My first piece of Dahlinks jewelry was from a Valentine's/Anti-Valentine's hunt back in 2008 *chuckles*. I wore that thing out. Then magic happened. One day I received a gift from Miss A and its brilliance made me smile for days. Something for Her ... and Him... O.O

Hello Dahlinks Family!  I really just am at a loss for words over the beauty of these two items, so I am going to do something I hardly ever do...post the pictures, drool and logout before I *urf* the pictures.

Presenting the Gothic Vial Blood Drop Chain Necklace:

This necklace, on the surface reminds me of a necklace I saw, not sure of the time period, but it was crafted to look like this intricate piece of art, but hid a weapon in its sheath, a blade to be specific.  Accented with gold, silver and black diamonds, this piece will be sure to draw attention no matter what you wear.  It's simply...stunning.  And funny enough...it has a partner of sorts!

The S-Curve of the links on the chain and the overall awesome craftsmanship for some reason remind me of something I've seen in the movie "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen".  It's sorta steampunk, completely gothic and like its mate...a complete eyecatcher.

Evolution of an Avatar

As anyone who has noticed the Dahlinks blog would realise, up till now it has been mainly concerned with telling the grid about new releases from Dahlinks Jewelry. Well an interesting thing happened to me yesterday and it started me considering one of my other chief passions in SL, apart from glittery junk and SHOOOESESESESESSS... breath breath... okay I am good now, and that is skins.

You see, an avi I had never encountered and had no knowledge of called xxxxx xxxxx dropped a strange skin on me called xxxx xxxx’s Skin. [The names have been xxxed out for reasons that are about to become apparent]. Now I was curious and cautious at the same time but it was late at night so I tried it on. Oh My DAYUMN... Now this was a nice skin... Too tanned for a typical Alex skin but ver ver nicely done. In fact too nice for a full perm skin with a generic full avatar name... Yep you guessed it. Ripped skin anyone. And not any ripped skin. A little investigation revealed the original makers copyright name there on the lower skin tattoo and I immediately IMed one of SL longest established and best known skinners and let her know that she had been ripped. Of course I thought... She probably already knows and this is only the thousandth IM she is getting regarding this. Boy was I wrong. Nope. This was the first she knew of it and in fact this skin was one she had just released.


This finally brings me to the purpose of this post. I have a passion for skins. From my second day in SL I have hunted across the grid for skins that suited my shape and my vision of my avi. I have spent thousands and thousands of Lindens in homage to the long hours of photoshop pain that goes into creating a good skin. Along with numerous other lesser known designers my skin closet includes an X2 skin from the period BEFORE they were ripped and flooded the grid, TaP, Celestial Studio, Abyss, Redgrave and Damiani just to name a few. I name these skins for a very good reason though.

Dahlinks Jewelry is almost two years old. During that time I have ALMOST exclusively used my own avi to shoot my vendor shots. In most cases I have also used my skin of choice for that given period of my avatar’s journey. Anyone walking around my store will see the evolution of an avatar.. at least the evolution of MY avatar’s journey in search of the perfect skin. Over the next 6 weeks I will be reviewing different skins as I shoot my holiday and anniversary releases... Stay tuned... Aussie Madness ahead!

I'm sorry for the brevity of this blog, but when I found that Dahlinks is one of the vendors in the Peace On Earth Hunt...I simply had to start plowing my way through it to see what other nummies were on the visiting trail.  Then I remembered...I could just go straight to work and see for myself!

So as I forged through the store seeking the mysterious globe of anticipation for this hunt, I happened across our Christmas room and found ... NEW AWESOMENESS!!

Such a heavenly body (of work)...The Celestial Set

Usually...I'd preface the introduction of one of Miss A's new sets with a back story, some witty banter or sharp lyrics (well...I think they're sharp...) to kind of coincide with the awesome that is her jewelry.  But...when I saw this set...I was stunned to silence (I know...right? Miss K don't get quiet! HA!!).  But seriously...this set...The Celestial Set ...

... is by far one of the most glorious pieces I've ever seen inworld.  It's breathtaking imagery and shimmer without the use of bling is sure to light up any outfit and make you shine like the heavenly creature you are! We bangs!! We bangs!! Bangles that is ...

Wonder Woman had them to deflect bullets.  An 80's pop group inadvertently ended up with a moniker that glorifies these wonderful things and taught us in turn to "Walk Like An Egyptian" (who coincidentally also wore their namesake)... I'm talking about bangles and bracelets loves...and Miss A? Well she's outdone herself this time.

After 9 months (yes...ish a baby!!) and weighing in at 1329 set-by-hand prims total (not just a baby...a big baby O.O), we present this wonderful piece of artistry to you, or wonderful family.


THIS is an outfit NOT for the faint of heart (or faint of prim ... as it were ... LOL). Handcrafted by Miss A's loving hands, this piece showcases a bountiful headdress, demi-bra, two wrist cuffs, earrings and of course...the eye drawing girdle.  Set with a modesty bra and panty that don't really need to be worn, this outfit will turn EVERY head it walks past. This is a showgirl outfit unlike any you have ever seen. One small note from Miss A:  in order to be able to tp, first use the resizer in the bra and panty prims to fit the pieces to you, then delete the scripts.  After this you can TP anywhere on the grid.
